BMX Race plates identify the types of riders or classes that they race in.
Following are examples of these. There are some simple regulations around the number size, so to make the plate clear & easy to read by officials. Numbers must be a min of 75mm high x 10mm wide and all plates must display a club prefix of a min 25mm in height.
Male 20" - Classic
Female 20" - Classic
Cruiser 24"
Numbers 1-50 are protected for National rankings. Riders can run their ranking if they have them in the year immediately preceding the event where the ranking was awarded.
An important note, you can only ride your ranking on your plate if the event is of the same level or lower. For example you cannot run your South Island Title ranking at Nationals.
ALL riders must have the correct plate attached for all National race meetings and Club race nights.
Riders must use the correctly coloured plate as indicated below:

There are a number of local stores that stock a range of BMX gear to suit those just starting out to those who are at the top of their game and where every gram is important.
We always recommend supporting your local bike store as they will be able to provide the best advice and support as you grow into the sport. Below are our recommended Auckland based stores, both are heavily involved in the BMX circuit and you will see their owners at most race meets both locally and nationally.
