RACE SERIES

If you're getting serious about racing there are a range of competitions available as both an individual, or as part of a team.

Once you have a BMXNZ license you can enter race meets outside Club night. Each year BMXNZ publish the upcoming race calendar prior to the new season starting.

Plan ahead to race at four NQM (National Qualifier Meets) so that you are eligible to race at Nationals. Ask a Club member for more information. Grab a club/family gazebo, the chilly bin and some camp chairs for a fun day of racing at a different track!

If you are interested in being part of a team competition let us know and we will see what we can do.

INDIVIDUAL COMPETITIONS

NORTHERN REGION RACE SERIES (NRRS)

The Northern Region Race Series (NRRS) is held each season with a round at each of the Northern Region Clubs.

Riders from ALL REGIONS are eligible to enter the NRRS Series.

Riders must enter both their age class (20”, Cruiser or Superclass), as well as the appropriate NRRS class (Rookie, Cadet, Expert or Master) to be eligible for the NRRS competition. Points from both the standard age class and the NRRS class will be calculated towards the overall series.

To be eligible for overall series points, riders must compete in at least 4 of the NRRS rounds advertised and must compete in the 6th (final) round of the series.

Riders may choose to ride up one UCI class but must compete in the same NRRS class throughout the whole series. Classes will be mixed gender; however, girls are able to race down one UCI age.

See the NRRS Rules & Guidelines for more information.

TEAM COMPETITIONS

NORTHERN REGION CLUB CHALLENGE (NRCC)

The Northern Region Club Challenge (NRCC) is a promotion of interclub racing between each of the clubs which make up the Northern Region.

FORMAT

  • The NRCC will be run over the course of the BMX Season, with points earned at eligible events that are hosting a round of the Northern Region Race Series (NRRS).

ELIGIBILITY

  • Each of the seven clubs within the Northern Region are eligible to compete. This includes Whangarei, North Harbour, Waitakere, East City, Mountain Raiders, Manukau Taniwha, and Sunset Coast.
  • Only Challenge riders that are currently registered as a member of a NORTHERN REGION CLUB are eligible to earn points for their respective club. Sprocket and Elite riders are non-eligible.

RIDER NOMINATION

  • 30mins prior to the start of racing each club within the Northern Region will select 4 RIDERS as their representatives for the NRCC and provide their names and classes to the points hut.
  • Different riders can be selected at each round of the NRCC. The same rider cannot be selected twice at the same event (e.g., if a rider was racing in both 20” and Cruiser class, the club must select which class is to be used for earning points).

POINTS CALCULATION

  • Points will be calculated from the first 4 motos of the riders selected class at each round (e.g., a rider gaining a 2nd place in a moto receives 2 points). The points from all qualifying motos will be added together & the club with the least points wins.
  • Points will only be taken from Challenge and Championship classes – novelty classes such as Superclass will not count towards points for teams.
  • Results from each round will be posted on the Northern Region BMX Facebook page.
