RACE SERIES
Once you have a BMXNZ license you can enter race meets outside Club night. Each year BMXNZ publish the upcoming race calendar prior to the new season starting.
Plan ahead to race at four NQM (National Qualifier Meets) so that you are eligible to race at Nationals. Ask a Club member for more information. Grab a club/family gazebo, the chilly bin and some camp chairs for a fun day of racing at a different track!
If you are interested in being part of a team competition let us know and we will see what we can do.
The Northern Region Race Series (NRRS) is held each season with a round at each of the Northern Region Clubs.
Riders from ALL REGIONS are eligible to enter the NRRS Series.
Riders must enter both their age class (20”, Cruiser or Superclass), as well as the appropriate NRRS class (Rookie, Cadet, Expert or Master) to be eligible for the NRRS competition. Points from both the standard age class and the NRRS class will be calculated towards the overall series.
To be eligible for overall series points, riders must compete in at least 4 of the NRRS rounds advertised and must compete in the 6th (final) round of the series.
Riders may choose to ride up one UCI class but must compete in the same NRRS class throughout the whole series. Classes will be mixed gender; however, girls are able to race down one UCI age.
See the NRRS Rules & Guidelines for more information.
This series format includes all “Standard BMX New Zealand classes” (except Sprockets) which are listed in the BMXNZ rulebook. This does not include any Novelty, Superclass or Mixed Open classes.
The series involves 10 rounds, of which a riders five best rounds will count towards the end of season “champions” for each class. The five rounds need to be made up of 3 Region Champs, 1 Island Title (North or South) plus Nationals in the same year.
A rider can do as many rounds as they want but must complete the minimum five-round requirement, then it is only their best five results of the noted events below that count towards their final score.
The BMXNZ National Series is run over the calendar year, counting the events from 1st of January to the 31st of December.
See the Guidelines for the Sport for more information.
